Common Questions

Common Questions

DGC has created this FAQ section to help with any questions along the way. Whether you're a new or existing customer.

  • I just got into an accident, what steps do I take next?

After the incident you'll need to contact your insurance company, or the other drivers insurance company. They will ask you to explain what happend, and then the insurance company will generate a claim number for you.  With your claim number, DGC will handle the rest for you. Which includes communicating with the insurance appraiser, and arranging a rental car if needed.

We recommend (if the situation allows)

    • Take photos of the damages to the vehicles involved in the accident.  Aswell as the license plate and insurance card.
    • Get a police report! this is so there is actual evidence of what happend, and usally  helps speed the process of liability.

  • What about a rental car, how does it work?

Yes, we can help make arrangements with Enterprise Rent-A -Car

Address: 221 Mystic Ave, Medford, MA 02155

    Phone: (781) 391-1561

DGC will have Enterprise pick you up at our location and drive you to their facility. When the repairs to your vehicle are complete,  you can pick up your vehicle at DGC and leave the rental at our shop . If you have rental car coverage, Enterprise will set up direct billing with your insurance company unless your policy states otherwise.

In the case being that you are the claimant, once the other persons insurance company accepts liability, you should be entitled to a rental vehicle. Which would be  at their expense while we’re repairing your vehicle. The rental would be considered equivalent transportation, to what you currently drive.

If you do not have rental coverage on your policy and are at fault with the accident, you will be responsible for the costs of a rental car if you need one. We can still schedule Enterprise to pick you up at our shop ahead of time, so just contact us for assistance.

Any further questions please give us a call. We can help make arrangements.

  • Will I get a surcharge from the accident?

You recieve a surcharge when you're at fault in an accident. If you are not at fault, you wont get a surcharge, but the other party will. You also wont get a surcharge if you report nothing under your Comprehensive part of your policy.

For example:  A Hit & Run, Vandalism, or Fire to your vehicle. These claims would make you responsbile for your deductible, but not a surcharge.

  • Do I have to pay a deductible?

The deductible is determined by your insurance policy.  The Insurance companies determine fault by your account of the accident when you make the claim, and by reviewing the accident report filed with the police department. If you aren’t sure about your deductible, call your insurance company. They will inform you about if your deductible has been waived, or if you will be responsible for paying your deductible when you pick up your vehicle. If your deductible is not waived, it will be your responsibility to pay DGC Autobody upon pickup.

Please note that if liability has not been determined and your deductible is “pending” further investigation,  you will still be responsible to pay your deductible at the time you pick up your vehicle.

  • How long do the repairs take?

    Each vehicle is different.

When you drop off your vehicle, we will give to you a general idea how long it will take. Then through-out the process keep you updated as needed.  A few things will determine the repair timeline. We do our best to manage time, and get your vehicle back to you within reason.  You will be notified when your vehicle is ready to be picked up.

Below are the a few factors that can alter the timeline if  they're delayed.

    • When parts are ordered and we confirm they will be delivered  in a timely manner.
    • When we contact the insurance company for any additional damages,  if necessary.

  • I signed a direction to pay form, what does it mean?

By signing our direction to pay form, it allows us to communicate to the insurnace company on your behalf. This is neccesary in order to modify the existing estimate.  If we find additional damages not originally accounted for, we request that the insurance company reviews and pay DGC accordingly to fix your vehicle.
