Out of Pocket Repairs

If you aren't planning on going through insurance, DGC can provide a photo or in person estimate to give you an idea on cost. Also any advice we may have to offer. If we move forward with the job, upon vehicle teardown there could be hidden damages or additional things needed. We would stop to discuss if so before continuing.

The Insurance Claim Process

Estimate

An appraiser will inspect your vehicle and account for the repairs that needed based on visual damages. This preliminary estimate is normally just a starting point.  After this, a copy of the estimate is sent to you by email or physical mail.  Once you have the estimate, you can now reach out to the shop to schedule repairs. Once dropped off for repairs, your vehicle will be assigned to a technician and enter the work station.

Disassembly

The damaged areas of the vehicle are disassembled. Hidden damages and structural flaws are often additionally found and noted.  To fix these additional damages, our office needs to request a supplement.  DGC will negotiate with the insurance provider to try and make those changes. The insurance company is contacted for inspection and approval.  This can take multiple days, all repairs require approval.

Parts/Verification

Our relationship with manufacturers, dealerships, and other vendors help us obtain parts. Although,  back- orders on certain makes or models is a possibility and you will be notified if this situation arises. Often times, the insurance company will force us to use their parts listed which could also increase delays for multiple reasons.

Once parts arrive, they're double-checked to see if they are what we have ordered. A technician will check the parts and matches it to your vehicle.

Body Repair

Restoration of the damaged exterior panels start. Dents and scratches, metal finishing, sheet metal alignments, etc. are dealt with. Accurate body work is performed following all necessary procedures and guidelines.

Paint Work

The vehicle is sent to the preparation area.  Where primer is applied, multiple steps of sanding is done, and masking is completed.  If needed, the vehicle enters the spray booth where to the refinish technician will finalize.  Using smart scale technology, color matching can be done to get the right finish. Our heated spraybooth allows us to lay down an excellent finish, and get faster drying results.

Reassembly

After the painting is completed, individual parts are reassembled with moldings and accessories being placed back on the vehicle. All the systems are tested and analyzed for performance, followed by the final inspection conducted to check for quality.
